James Neesham, the New Zealand all-rounder, is all set to ply his trade in the 2019 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He will be representing the Trinbago Knight Riders, the defending champions. After his calm and composed approach in the World Cup, all eyes will be on him and rightly so. Recently, he played for the Edmonton Royals in the 2019 Global T20 Canada.
The Auckland-born lately had the privilege of playing alongside Kieron Pollard, who was leading the Pollard XI in the match versus Bravo XI, led by Dwayne Bravo, at the renowned Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. Neesham impressed in the game in all the departments. In that match, he churned out 26 vital runs and also picked up three wickets at crucial junctures of the encounter.
In the meantime, he lauded Kieron Pollard as the best striker of the cricket ball he has ever seen. Pollard got out for a duck in that contest, but Neesham was impressed by his striking in the Knight Riders’ training camp. He took to Twitter and wrote, “I’ve learnt one thing from this @TKRiders training camp. @KieronPollard55 is the best ball striker I’ve ever seen, and it’s not even close,”

Pollard appointed as Knight Riders’ captain
In the last edition of the CPL, Pollard moved from the Barbados Tridents to the St Lucia Stars, now Zouks. The Trinidadian replaced Darren Sammy as their skipper. But the 32-year-old couldn’t change the fortunes of the franchise as it finished at the bottom-half of the table. Earlier it was known that Pollard has made a move to the Knight Riders, who won the last couple of championships.
Now it has been learned that Pollard is set to lead the Knights in the upcoming edition. The same is for the reason that DJ Bravo has developed a finger injury that has ruled him out for a significant part of the T20 league. Back in 2014, Pollard captained the Tridents to their maiden title in the CPL and in the next season, the team ended as the runners up. This time, Pollard will have a tough challenge.
