Jofra Archer, only nine days ago, was at the helm for England bowling a super over in a World Cup final against New Zealand. He won his team the trophy to etch his name in the history along with his teammates and is now enjoying a well-deserved break away from the game. He has gone back to the Caribbean shores in Barbados and was spotted having fun at the Barbados paint festival with some of the West Indies cricketers as well.
It is the Jovert Morning Jump-Up carnival in which the partygoers cover themselves in paint and oils for the Jouvert Morning which starts at daybreak. Jofra Archer was seen tapping his feet on the calypso music with his friends even as some of the Caribbean cricketers were also spotted at the venue.
The likes of Jason Holder and Evin Lewis were also seen having a great time at the party and they also clicked the pictures with Jofra Archer.
Archer for Ashes?
Jofra Archer was one of the best bowlers in the 2019 World Cup and fittingly led England to the historic victory in the final. He ended up picking 20 wickets in the tournament and turned out to be a sensational last-minute pick eventually. The voice is now growing for his inclusion in the Test side and the selectors have cleared that they will consider his name for the selection ahead of the first Ashes Test on August 1.
England are set to face Ireland at the Lord’s in the one-off Test match from Wednesday and Archer hasn’t been included in the team for this encounter. He has been rested and might break into the Test squad for Ashes without much red-ball cricket in recent times. It will be interesting to see whom he replaces in the playing XI as England are spoilt for choices in the whites as far as pace bowlers are concerned.
Playing for Sussex, Jofra Archer has picked 131 wickets in just 28 first-class matches which is staggering and deserves to be picked for the prestigious series.
