South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada currently is one of the leading speedsters of the modern era. While donning the Proteas jersey in 43 Tests and 75 ODIs, the pacer has managed to pluck 197 and 117 wickets respectively. Through his pace, Rabada has been successful to leave his impact in all formats of the sport.
The 25-year-old was set to don the Delhi Capitals jersey in the thirteenth edition of the IPL. However, with the postponement of the tournament, Rabada, like many other cricketers, is spending time at home due to no cricketing action. Amid this time, IPL franchises have been interacting with their players to dish out some entertainment for fans.
Rabada recently interacted with Delhi Capitals fans through an Instagram live and said that he was really looking forward to playing in the IPL after recovering from an injury.
“I would’ve been ready for the IPL in March. I had a tear in my groin, but I healed quite quickly and believed I would have been able to play the IPL if it had started as scheduled.
“It was something I was really looking forward to, especially after last season’s performance which was, no doubt, a huge motivator for all of us. It was also by far the most enjoyable season I’ve been part of,” Rabada added.
Kagiso Rabada also opined on cricket behind closed doors
During the conversation, Rabada was also asked about the former greats of the game against whom he would’ve loved to bowl. Along with other stalwarts, one name which Rabada mentioned was of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar.
“I think Kevin Pietersen, Sachin Tendulkar, Vivian Richards and Ricky Ponting would be the batsmen I would love to bowl to,” said the speedster.
Furthermore, Rabada also opined on the idea of playing matches behind closed doors. According to the speedster, it’s a bizarre idea to play the sport in an empty stadium, especially during international matches.
“It’s going to be bizarre to play in empty stadiums, especially during international matches. But the world has to move on. There will still be tough competition when teams play, and people can still enjoy that on TV,” he said.
