Team India showed resilience and valiance on Day 5 of the Sydney Test against Australia as they scripted one of the greatest comebacks in Test cricket history. Being plagued with injuries, India had almost lost the game but a collective team effort ensured that they managed to draw the game. The visiting nation’s heroics fetched appreciation and praises from all across the globe.
Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag also seemed impressed with India’s brilliant effortlessly on Day 5 as he took to his official Twitter handle to congratulate the team. However, he didn’t fail to take a sly dig at former Australian captain Steve Smith for his unsportsmanlike behaviour during the drinks break on Day 5.
Smith had hogged all the limelight during the last day of the third Test at SCG when he was caught scuffing Rishabh Pant’s guard purposely on the stump camera. Australia was desperate to win the game, however, Pant was going strong. Thus, to unsettle the batsman Smith erased Pant’s guard. Though Smith’s face was not clearly visible in the video, all could easily figure him out by his jersey no 49.
“Tried all tricks including Steve Smith trying to remove Pant’s batting guard marks from the crease. Par kuch kaam na aaya. Khaaya peeya kuch nahi, glass toda barana. But I am so proud of the effort of the Indian team today. Seena chonda ho gaya yaar,” Virender Sehwag tweeted.

Since the Day 1, Australia were deemed as the favourites to win the Test game as they showed great character with the willow in both the innings. Winning the toss, the hosts posted a mammoth total of 338 on the board as Steve Smith regained his form and scored a stunning century (131 runs).
In reply, India were bundled out for 244 as Australia’s bowling line-up went all guns blazing against the opponents. Batting in the third innings, Australia again launched an assault on the visitors’ bowling line-up, Smith, Labuschagne and Cameron Green shined with the willow. All the three batters registered a half-century each.
However, Hanuma Vihari and Ravi Ashwin stole all the limelight as the duo collectively faced more than 259 deliveries despite suffering from injuries to end the game in a draw.
