Ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is known for his headline-making talks on Twitter — sometimes controversial while funny at other times. Recently, one of his fans witnessed the funny side after asking him a question related to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The veteran off-spinner will be playing for Delhi Capitals (DC) this season after a two-year stint with Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) that he captained but with little success.
It had though started at a completely different end. Ashwin asked Cheteshwar Pujara about the wicket of the second ODI between India and Australia in Rajkot — the home ground of the Saurashtra batsman. He asked Pujara about the par score on the pitch at the venue which is India’s first solar-powered and hosting international matches only since 2013. He also asked whether a “road roller” was used on the wicket or not.
However, before Ashwin got any reply from Pujara who hasn’t tweeted anything after January 11, one fan chipped in. Om Lal Mehta asked Ashwin a counter-question and it was: “How many retweets for a signed @DelhiCapitals jersey this IPL??!!”
Ash…how many retweets for a signed @DelhiCapitals jersey this IPL??!!

Ashwin did not evade the question and replied in a funny tone that he would let Mehta know once he got hold of his jersey. He though said “one” instead of “once”. The fan was okay with that and said he would pick it personally from Ashwin and save the latter the courier charges.
One I get hold of my jersey, I will let u know😂

Last November, Kings XI Punjab traded Ravichandran Ashwin with DC for Rs 1.5 crore and Karnataka spinner Jagadeesha Suchith. Ashwin did well for the Kings as a bowler in the last two seasons, picking 25 wickets in 28 games, but could not take his side to the playoffs even once.
The 33-year-old Tamil Nadu cricketer, who will join Yorkshire after the IPL, has also played for Rising Pune Supergiant. However, his best moments came for Chennai Super Kings under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni between 2009 and 2015.
Coming back to the India-Australia game, the hosts produced a much better performance with the bat compared to that in Mumbai last Tuesday. After Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and asked Virat Kohli’s side to bat first, it made 340 for 6 in 50 overs with Shikhar Dhawan top-scoring with 96 and Kohli and KL Rahul hitting high fifties.
