When the world first saw Virat Kohli, the image, the reputation was different. He came across as a brash, bold and aggressive young man who wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. The Delhi lad didn’t back away from confrontations on the field or with the media. But Kohli has matured a lot as a player and also, as a person.
The Indian cricket team captain has become a lot calmer. While the aggressive nature and the fire still exists but that’s only on the field. There have been multiple gestures both on and off the field that prove Kohli has changed significantly.
Moreover, Kohli loves following multiple sports. He’s revealed it multiple times that he is a Christiano Ronaldo fan and also a Roger Federer fan. However, this time he’s gone ahead and extended his sport for basketball legend Kobe Bryant.
Kobe Bryant killed in a helicopter crash
Bryant was an American professional basketball player who played the game for 20-long years. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Philadelphia-born basketball legend made his debut back in 1996 and retired in 2016.
One of the biggest news to strike early in the last week of January was the shock death of Bryant. The 41-year-old was expected to arrive at the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks where a basketball game was scheduled on Sunday. His 13-year-old daughter (Gianna Maria) who was traveling with him was going to play in that basketball game. However, according to sources, in the helicopter, they were traveling crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, California. As many as nine people were killed in the crash.
Virat Kohli pays tribute to the magician
Hence, Kohli expressed his devastation to the news and said he was heartbroken. He revealed that he had multiple memories of waking up early to watch Bryant produce magic on the court. The Indian skipper also termed life as fickle and unpredictable. He took to Instagram to send out a post and put out the following caption.
“Absolutely devastated to hear this news today. So many childhood memories of waking up early and watching this magician doing things on the court that I would be mesmerized by. Life is so unpredictable and fickle. His daughter Gianna passed away too in the crash. I am absolutely Heartbroken. Rest in peace. Strength and condolences to the family.”
