T20 format is a batsman dominating the game, but there are some world-class bowlers who have turned the tables on a number of occasions. Taking a hat-trick in a T20 game is not easy as it requires a proper execution but some bowlers have proved their class. The spell of continuous 3 wickets in a row is usually associated with the best bowlers in world cricket.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed a considerable amount of hat-tricks. The toughest league in the cricket world has witnessed a total of 19 hat-tricks by 16 players in its 12 successful seasons so far. The first hat-trick in IPL was taken by Lakshmipathy Balaji for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2008 against Kings XI Punjab.
The first season experienced three hat-tricks while the same was repeated again in 2017 season again. These are the most no. of hat-tricks recorded in a single edition of IPL. 2015 and 2018 were the only seasons of IPL when not even a single hat-trick was recorded.
Rohit Sharma makes it to this list as well
In the cash-rich league, even a part-time bowler has registered a hat-trick. Rohit Sharma, who is commonly known for hitting the maximums, took three wickets in three balls against the team which he is currently leading and has successfully guided them to 4 IPL titles till now. The Hitman bowled the 16th over of 2nd Innings and delivered a match-winning spell for now-defunct Deccan Chargers.
Amit Mishra leads the list
The leg-spinner Amit Mishra has taken 3 hat-tricks till date, which is the most by any player in the history of IPL. He has taken all the three hat-tricks for three different franchises. He picked up his first IPL hat-trick for Delhi Daredevils in 2008, the second one in the 2011 edition for Deccan Chargers, and the last one in 2013 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Amit Mishra is followed by Yuvraj Singh with two hat-tricks.
