India and Pakistan are known as arch-rivals on the cricket field and haven’t played any bilateral series opposite each other for a decade now owing to the political tension between both nations. However, despite all the enmity the cricketers from both nations have always prayed for each other’s well-being.
The latest example of the same is former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi who penned down a heartfelt note for former Indian captain and batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar. Almost a week ago, the Little Master tested positive for the novel coronavirus and self-isolated himself after having mild symptoms.
The veteran took to his official Twitter handle to inform that on the advice of the doctors he has been hospitalized and is hoping to recover soon from the deadly virus. The 47-year-old also took the opportunity to wish all the Indian cricket enthusiasts for the 10th anniversary of India lifting the ICC World Cup in 2011.
“Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalized. I hope to be back home in a few days. Take care and stay safe everyone. Wishing all Indians & my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup win,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.
Shahid Afridi wishes a speedy recovery to Sachin Tendulkar
The tweet by Tendulkar quickly went viral on social media as he received messages and good wishes from all over the cricket fraternity. The latest addition to this list is former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi. Retweeting the words of Sachin, Afridi wished him a speedy recovery and prayed that his hospital stay should be shorter.
“Wishing you a speedy recovery Legend. No doubt that you will make a strong recovery. May your hospital stay be short and your recovery even shorter!” Afridi wrote.

The 44-year-old isn’t the first Pakistan cricketer to send his good wishes to Sachin Tendulkar as earlier today Wasim Akram also took to Twitter to motivate Tendulkar and expressed confidence in Tendulkar’s ability to hit COVID-19 for a six.
“Even when you were 16, you battled the world’s best bowlers with guts and aplomb… so I am sure you will hit Covid-19 for a SIX! Recover soon master! Would be great if you celebrate India’s World Cup 2011 anniversary with doctors and hospital staff… do send me a pic!” Akram tweeted.
