Canada’s domination in the inaugural tournament of League A in the Men’s CWC Challenge continued as they recorded a 115-run win against Qatar. After posting a 400+ total against Malaysia, the Canada team finished with 379/4 against the Qatar team. Nitish Kumar and Srimantha Wijeyeratne scored hundreds by sharing a 230-run partnership for the 3rd wicket which came in only 27.4 over.
Nitish’s contribution in the match didn’t stop there as he took five wickets in nine overs despite going for 72 runs. They will now take on Denmark who won their previous two matches. A win here will help Canada to seal their finishing the tournament as the table-toppers. Canada’s NRR is 5 times more than that of next best team. They will play their last match against Singapore who are only other side to win three matches thus far.
The Kinrara Academy Oval’s ground facilities will finally come handy on Wednesday where there are great chances of rain. Kuala Lumpur is expected to see thunderstorms throughout the match timings.
For the first time in 7 List A matches since 2018, the Kinrara Academy Oval has witnessed successful chase. Singapore defeated Malaysia by chasing down 202 in the previous match here. We might get to see a successful chase up to 230 if Canada is the chasing side on Wednesday.
