Mohammad Amir has revealed the names of the three fast bowlers who he believes are the best all-format pacers in the world at present. Amir himself was one of the best bowlers across formats in the world not very long ago but things did not pan out as the pacer would have wanted. After retiring from Tests in 2019, Amir sensationally hung his boots from limited-overs cricket too in December.
He started his career on a very promising note before being banned for spot-fixing. He then returned to international cricket and helped Pakistan win their first-ever Champions Trophy in 2017. But the left-arm pacer soon found himself out-of-favour after failing to deliver as per expectations. Last year, he was excluded from the PCB‘s list of central contracts and omitted from Pakistan’s 35-man squad to tour New Zealand before he decided to retire.
Mohammad Amir was talking to Cricket Pakistan when he was asked to reveal his pick for the three best all-format pacers. In reply, the Pakistan star started by naming New Zealand pace spearhead Trent Boult and said that he has always liked the left-arm pacer. The next bowler in Amir’s list was India star Jasprit Bumrah.
Amir said the India pacer has been consistently performing in all the three formats. The third bowler named by Amir was Australia star Mitchell Starc. The former Pakistan international then went on to name another pacer in his list in the form of South Africa star Kagiso Rabada.
“Boult. I like him a lot. He is in top three. Bumrah, he has been consistently performing in all the three formats and Mitchell Starc. And Rabada. Rabada is good too,” he said.
Mohammad Amir last played for Pakistan in August 2019
Mohammad Amir last played for Pakistan in the T20Is in England in August 2019. He brought down curtains on his career after representing Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 50 T20Is. He picked up 259 wickets in international cricket. Amir was last seen in action in the Pakistan Super League which was postponed earlier this month due to COVID-19 outbreak.
