The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a blessing for the domestic Indian cricketers. It has given them a chance to rub shoulders with the best in the business and learn a lot. Mohammed Siraj is one of them who features for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers among other top cricketers are his teammates.
No wonder he must have learned a lot about where not to bowl to both the legendary batsmen over the last couple of years. And this is the reason, the 26-year-old has picked them as the toughest batsmen to bowl at. Both Kohli and De Villiers are known to rip apart the opposition bowling attacks on their day and Siraj must be thankful that he hasn’t had to bowl them in the match in the last two editions of the IPL.
Mohammed Siraj, during a live interaction with CricTracker on Tuesday, also picked the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni as another toughest batsman to bowl at. Well, this might be coming from his experience of getting belted from the greatest finisher of the game last year. Dhoni had launched an attack on the Hyderabad pacer in the death overs and Siraj was clearly under pressure.
Mohammed Siraj impressive in the IPL
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj has been backed immensely by his skipper Virat Kohli. He had played only six matches during his stay with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2017. But the pace bowler has featured in 20 games for the RCB in last two years. Though he has turned out to be expensive, Siraj has been the wicket-taker for his team picking 11 and 7 wickets in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
He would’ve love to improve even more this year in the cash-rich league only for the pandemic to play spoilsport. He was in decent touch coming into the tournament as well picking 19 wickets in the Ranji Trophy in five matches with the best figures of 4/59. His average of 26.94 was one of the best and Siraj was also the second-highest wicket-taker for Hyderabad.
