Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni was last seen in action for India in the ICC World Cup 2019. However, following India’s semi-final exit from the summer showpiece event, the veteran didn’t feature for the team again.
He was in the headlines more often than not after he took a two-month sabbatical from international cricket in order to join the Indian army regiment for two weeks. Amid the speculations regarding his future, the former Indian skipper was spotted training with Jharkhand’s U-23 team, giving his fans a ray of hope that he would return back to the field.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman was recently asked about his future and to which he said, “January tak mat poocho (don’t ask me till January).” However, a reliable source in the know of developments added that former India captain will decide his future after next year’s IPL.

The die-hard Dhoni fans will have to possibly wait to see him in action on the field as there hasn’t been any confirmation regarding the 38-year-old’s availability yet. Dhoni is not a part of the team’s squad in the upcoming limited-overs assignment against the West Indies with the first T20I match commencing on December 6 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Earlier, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly stated that world cup winning captain will get the respect that a player of his reputation deserves and had also ruled out retirement by the 38-year-old cricketer. After Sourav Ganguly took charge as BCCI President, he said: “You know champions like MS Dhoni don’t finish quickly.” With T20 World Cup 2020 on its way, MS Dhoni’s presence could be a huge boost to the Indian cricket team.
