Jos Buttler, the England wicket-keeper batsman, heaped praises on MS Dhoni, calling the veteran his idol. The Somerset-born Buttler is one of the most explosive batters in limited-overs cricket and never shies away from playing his strokes. Being a person of high stature, the spotlight is always on Dhoni and his activities. But Buttler is impressed by how he has handled the ‘chaos’ around him.

Dhoni, 38, is at the fag end of his career and talks of when he will be hanging his boots have been doing the rounds. There have also been speculations on his comeback after he last played in the 2019 edition of the World Cup. Buttler was of the opinion that Dhoni’s way of not paying heed to noises has helped him garner numerous laurels across his career.

“MS Dhoni has always been a big idol of mine and chaos is always going around him, people wanting a bit of him, the cricket and the noise “….it is such a great lesson to just watch him and see first-hand how to manage all that thing if you have to perform at the top level and perform in those crunch moment, that certainly has been one of the massive pluses,” Buttler told to My Khel.

Buttler has been plying his trade for the Rajasthan Royals over the last couple of seasons. To start with, he batted in the middle-order. However, after the Englishman was promoted to the top, he broke free and tormented oppositions with his stroke-play.

He has helped the Royals make use of the powerplay and is currently one of their key players. He understands the pressure he is under, four being the maximum number of overseas names in an Indian Premier League (IPL) eleven. But he has used it as a learning curve.

“It was one of pressures you have to learn, especially in India, as an oversees players, you are one of the four in the team and you know the other four who are not playing are also world class players. So, you are under pressure to perform. So that’s been a great learning curve. One of the things I came out with from the first IPL is to just learn to deal with the chaos,” he added.
