Tshwane Spartans, who are in red-hot form will lock horns with Jozi Stars in Match 25 of the MSL 2019. Tshwane Spartans, who have gathered 19 points from their eight matches, will be eager to challenge for the top two spots in the points table. The Heinrich Klaasen-led side is currently sitting third in the points table.
In their previous match against Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, Spartans suffered a six-wicket defeat despite posting a massive score of 188 runs on the board. Wiaan Mulder and De Villiers bolstered their batting force by smashing 52 and 63 respectively. Apart from Lungi Ngidi, no other bowler was able to deliver an impressive spell against Giants. Spartans would be expecting their bowling attack to step up against Jozi Stars.
Jozi Stars, on the other hand, are struggling at the bottom of the table. Stars have failed to win a single game so far in the seven matches that they have played. Jozi Stars have seemed completely out of sorts in this edition of the MSL. They were expected to be tough competitors this year and replicate their heroics of the previous season. However, they have delivered dismal performances through the season.
Pitch and Conditions
The pitch in Centurion mostly assists the fast bowlers and spinners may not have much of a role to play. The wicket has good carry and bounce and the batters can play shots on the up. However, rain is expected to interrupt the game. The temperature will be around 16 degrees Celcius and the weather is expected to be cloudy.
Jozi Stars will be steered by their skipper Bavuma from the front. He will be assisted by Van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks to reinforce their batting line-up. Despite having the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Aaron Phangiso, Stars have failed to showcase a strong bowling attack on a consistent basis. All eyes will be on Reeza Hendricks, who played a brilliant 74-run knock in his last match.
Predicted XI: Reeza Hendricks, Ryan Rickelton, Temba Bavuma (C), Rassie van der Dussen, Sinethemba Qeshile (wk), Jacques Snyman, Daniel Christian, Lizaad Williams, Kagiso Rabada, Aaron Phangiso, Duanne Olivier
AB de Villiers has delivered phenomenal performances for Spartans in the MSL 2019. He wll be assisted Pite van Bilijon, who smashed a brilliant half-century in his previous match. Spartans’ bowling attack will be steered by Lungi Ngidi, who has scalped nine wickets in his last five matches.
Probable XI: Theunis de Bruyn, Dean Elgar, Roelof van der Merwe, AB de Villiers, Heinrich Klaasen (C & WK), Petrus van Biljon, Wiaan Mulder, Tom Curran, Morne Morkel, Lungi Ngidi, Lutho Sipamla
