Rahkeem Cornwall recently became the heaviest international cricket. The Antigua-born player achieved the feat when he made his Test debut for the West Indies against India at the Sabina Park, Jamaica. The hulk-like figure weighs around a stunning 140 kgs and is currently working on reducing his weight. Thus far, he has more or less been impressive in the hosts’ first innings with the ball.
The tweaker bowled the most number of overs for his team, 41, and picked up the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohamamd Shami. He also took a couple of sharp catches to send back openers- Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul. In the meantime, Seemab Khan, son of late Bollywood actor Amjad Khan and Mumbai’s heaviest cricketer, is keeping a close watch on Cornwall.
Khan is impressed by Cornwall’s uncomplicated action. “He (Rahkeem Cornwall) has a very nice, uncomplicated and easy bowling action,” Khan was quoted as saying in BDcrictime. Around a couple of years ago, Khan played the Kanga league in Mumbai and was weighing 140 kgs at that time.
Cornwall should see what works for him best
Seemab took around 18 to 24 months to lose his weight, but he is focussed on getting leaner with time. “I still have quite a bit more to lose to be fit. I followed Kinita Kadakia Patel, a leading sports nutritionist’s diet advice and it helped me a lot,” he mentioned.
As per Seemab, there’s no hard and fast rule for losing weight and felt that something which has worked for him may not work for Cornwall. However, he put forth the importance of being agile and quick on one’s feet. Khan advised the Windies cricketer to see what works best for him.
“To be honest there is no particular advice (for losing weight) I can give to Rahkeem because what works for me might not work for him and vice versa. The only thing is to be agile and be quick on your feet,” Seemab remarked.
“There are people who are who are thin but can’t move too well and there are people who are heavy and can move swiftly. Being thin does not necessarily mean being fit. So, he should see what works for him best and back himself completely,” he added.
