Mohammad Kaif would be etched as one of the greatest fielders India have ever produced. In a generation when the Indian fielding wasn’t at its best, Kaif somewhat came and changed the concept of fielding. There were very few instances when the veteran allowed mishaps on the ground. Plucking balls out of thin air was pretty much a bread and butter for Kaif.
However, after 2006, his career got a massive blow. From there on, he didn’t get a chance to don the national colours. The now 39-year-old was no mug with the willow either. In 13 Tests and 125 ODIs, the Allahabad-born churned out 624 and 2,753 runs respectively with three centuries and 20 half-centuries. He will mostly be known for the knock he played at the Lord’s versus England.
Recently, he had the chance of meeting Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary Indian batsman. Kaif was over the moon and he couldn’t stop heaping praises on the Master Blaster. Kaif went on to call Sachin ‘Lord Krishna’. He uploaded a picture along with Tendulkar. Moreover, Kaif captioned the picture and wrote, “My Sudama moment with lord Krishna,”

Back in July 21, 2018, Kaif hung his boots from all forms of cricket. After he bid adieu to the sport, Tendulkar posted a message for him on social media. Sachin said he chose the best day for quitting cricket. Sachin also reminisced the knock he played at the Home of Cricket back in 2002.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “You’ve chosen the best day to announce your retirement, @MohammadKaif. Those memories are still fresh in our minds. May Lord bless you with more and more success, just like the one at Lord’s back in 2002. My best wishes to you always,”
Sachin and Kaif have played quite a few matches together. There were 74 ODIs and five Tests where both of them featured in the same lineup. Though his career for India wasn’t overly glittering, he was a stalwart in India’s domestic circuit. From the 1997/98 season to 2017, Kaif amassed 25 centuries 125 half-centuries with over 19,000 runs under his belt.
