The Pakistan cricket team has already reached England for the bilateral Test and T20I series. On Sunday, June 28, the players reached there on a chartered flight. They would now be transferred to Worcester where the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) would be testing them. Thereafter, they would go for a 14-day isolation period where the players would practise and train together.
Back in February, Pakistan cricket came to a halt. Their third leg of the home series against Bangladesh had to be called off. It consisted of a Test and an ODI at the National Stadium in Karachi. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) was also postponed after the round-robin matches. Prior to the tour, PCB was in a bit of a fix after 10 of their players were tested positive for COVID-19.
The situation complicated even more after Mohammad Hafeez conducted a test all by himself and was found negative. Wasim Khan, the PCB chief Executive, wasn’t happy with him and said that his actions created a lot of problems. However, a couple of days earlier, the PCB conducted their second test where the results of six players came out as negative, much to the board’s relief.
Pakistan in for a challenging series
A 20-member squad has gone to England, where cricket would be resuming in over a week with the three-match Test series against the West Indies. The ICC has laid down a number of rules for the resumption of cricket post the coronavirus pandemic, one of which is banning saliva to shine the ball. It now remains to be seen what happens when the players resume action on the field.
In the meantime, before Pakistan team left for England, the official Twitter handle of the team posted a few pictures of the players, wearing masks and maintaining social distance. But, they misspelled Pakistan as ‘Pakiatan’. Naturally, they became a butt of jokes on social media platforms.
The users on Twitter notices the smallest of errors and leave no stone unturned in poking fun at the ones, who made the mistake. This time around, it wasn’t any different. They trolled the PCB left, right and centre. Later, Pakistan cricket deleted the tweet.
Here’s how Twitterati trolled PCB: –
