Glenn Maxwell produced a blistering performance with the bat against New Zealand in the third T20I on 3rd March 2021. The right-hander scored a breath taking 70 off just 31 balls as Australia won the third T20I by 64 runs to register their first victory in the five match T20I series.
Maxwell tore into James Neesham in the 17th over of the innings and smashed the Kiwi pacer for a whopping 28 runs as the Black Caps were left gaping at the destruction caused by Maxwell. And, off the second ball of the 17th over, Maxwell hit a six that absolutely shattered a seat in the stadium. Such was the power in the shot, that there was a massive hole that was left in one of the seats.
Now, Chief Executive of Sky Stadium Shane Harmon has reacted to Maxwell’s murderous six. Harmon stated that he would put the seat up for auction over the next few days, and the proceeds would be sent to the Wellington Homeless Women’s Trust. He also asked Maxwell whether he could even sign the seat that he broke. You can see Harmon’s tweet below.
Will put this seat @skystadium up for auction on @TradeMe next few days. All proceeds will be donated to Wellington Homeless Women’s Trust. Any chance of a signature @Gmaxi_32? 🙂 #NZvAUS pic.twitter.com/1Y0YPAfeDe

Australia decimate New Zealand in the third T20I
The third T20I was a totally one-sided affair, with Australia coming out on top comfortably. After being put in to bat by New Zealand, the Australian side scored 208/4 in their allotted 20 overs. While skipper Aaron Finch and Josh Philippe scored 69 and 43 respectively, Maxwell hammered the Black Caps to all parts of the ground, and scored a 31 ball 70.
In reply, the New Zealand batting line up came a cropper. The Black Caps were bowled out for just 144, with Ashton Agar picking up career best figures of 6/30 in his 4 overs. In fact, apart from Martin Guptill and Devon Conway, there was not a single New Zealand willow wielder who could even cross the 20-run mark.
The Trans-Tasman series is now set for an intriguing climax. Even though the score line reads 2-1 in favor of New Zealand, the kangaroos will be confident of pulling off another victory in the 4th T20I on 5th March 2021.
