After going wicketless in 23 overs of the New Zealand‘s innings on the first day of the second Test, the signs looked ominous for India. Their bowlers needed to step up big time to have any chance of making a comeback into the match. And the visitors did just the same bowling with menace on the second morning to leave the Kiwis rattled. After picking five wickets in the first session, Ravindra Jadeja sent back Colin de Grandhomme early after lunch to assert India’s dominance in the game.
It was an exceptional delivery from the left-arm spinner which got the better of the New Zealand all-rounder who has the ability to change the game with his aggressive batting. The partnership between De Grandhomme and Kyle Jamieson was building steadily and in order to change the pace of the game, Virat Kohli introduced Jadeja into the attack and the move worked wonders soon.
In the 61st over of the innings, his second of the spell, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a ripper of a delivery to castle De Grandhomme. The ball pitched on the off stump and just turned enough to bluff the batsman and disturb the furniture. De Grandhomme, meanwhile, played inside the line in his defence and didn’t anticipate the turn which Jadeja extracted through the surface.
It was a timely wicket for the visitors as the duo of De Grandhomme and Jamieson were looking settled after batting together for close to 10 overs.

India pacers improve significantly to stun New Zealand
Earlier, it was the Indian pacers who put up an improved display after a disappointing show on the opening day with the new ball. It all began with Umesh Yadav pinning Tom Blundell in front of the stumps after which Jasprit Bumrah sent back the opposition’s best batsman Kane Williamson early. The procession continued with Ross Taylor getting out to Ravindra Jadeja and Henry Nicholls succumbing to pressure once again.
With a brilliant comeback, India will be now be hoping to bat well in the second innings and put New Zealand under tremendous pressure and then level the series eventually.
