Former India international Kiran More, who donned the national jersey between 1984 and 1993, is one of the most successful wicketkeepers the country has ever produced. The Baroda-born player’s impressive record speaks for his worth. In 49 Tests, he has 110 catches and 20 stumpings to his name. While in ODIs, More has 63 catches and 27 stumpings under his belt.
Apart from his work behind the stumps, one incident that overshadowed More’s achievement is the infamous Miandad run-in in 1992. The on-field sledging notched up to such an extent that Javed Miandad started doing ‘bunny jumps’ on the pitch.
More, who was not in the mood to calm down, didn’t curb his chatter from behind the stumps. In return, he had to face a riled-up Miandad. While recollecting the incident, More said that it often overshadows his other achievements. The 57-year-old added that no one talks about his world record of six dismissals in a single Test.
“Pakistan-India is always on the field a big battle. Off the field, we have no issues at all. Javed loves to talk, he’s an outstanding cricketer. Sledging is always on the field. It happens in all fields. It’s become a lot more popular,” said Kiran More in a chat with Sportskeeda.
“No one talks about my world record 6 dismissals in one Test match. Everyone asks only about the Miandad incident,” added More.
‘Imran Khan was always full of swag for Pakistan’: Kiran More
More also talked about another Pakistan stalwart and current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. According to More, Imran Khan’s story of becoming the Prime Minister is an unbelievable one. More heaped praise on the former Pakistan skipper and revealed that Imran wanted to do something for his country.
“He was always full of swag for Pakistan. He kept to himself. He always loved talking cricket, he could talk 24×7. He wanted to do something for Pakistan. It’s an unbelievable story. For me it’s a beautiful story, hats off to him. We have had lots of cricketers who have been in and out, not easy to handle,” said More, heaping praise on Imran Khan.
