It is not a hidden fact that the condition of the planet is deteriorating every passing second. And, everyone who has a say in world affairs or any influence over people is leaving no stones unturned to make people think about this ever-growing problem. A similar move came in by the Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin when he tweeted his concerns regarding the degrading environment.
Recently, a video also surfaced featuring the Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell. In the video shared by his Big Bash League teammate Dale Steyn, Maxwell could be seen rushing out on the street with a fire extinguisher. He was attempting to douse a bush fire that had popped up near the place where they were at that time. The video did rounds on various social media platforms and gathered a lot of appreciation and respect from the fans.
Ashwin is currently prepping for the upcoming Test match series against New Zealand. And, on Tuesday, he took it to Twitter to express his concerns regarding the smog that had engulfed the city of Chennai. The cause of the smog, as told by him, was a ritual called Bhogi burning.
His tweet read, “Massive smog in Chennai this morning owing to Bhogi burning, entire nose getting blocked and black discharges later in the day. I am not sure if it’s worth spoiling the planet further in the name of traditions. There has to be a way to educate everyone and make them understand.”

India are set to travel to New Zealand for Tests
Ravichandran Ashwin hung around after tweeting, to respond to his fans who were pouring in suggestions and praise for the cricketer. One fan who asked him to use public transport and not his personal car for commuting, Ashwin replied by saying that he would consider that method of transportation.
The cricketer also agreed to one fan’s suggestion to stop burning crackers on Diwali. Some of the fans, who were somehow enraged after reading his tweet, received a calm yet fitting replies from Ashwin.
Team India, currently playing a One Day International series against Australia, will next travel to New Zealand for a full-blown tour starting from the 24th of January. And, since Ashwin has been a playing only Test cricket for quite some time now, is expected to join the team for the last leg of the tour. The two-match Test series will start on the 21st of February.
