The two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are involved in a thrilling afternoon affair with the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on October 18 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Both the teams are a little low on confidence as SRH registered an easy defeat in their last two outings against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) while KKR was also thumped by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) followed by Mumbai Indians (MI). Interestingly, both KKR and SRH are in desperate need of a victory in this match to continue their race to the playoffs.
SRH skipper David Warner won the toss and made an interesting choice of fielding against the Knight Riders. Despite the falling wickets, KKR managed to put up a decent score of 163 at the loss of 5 wickets in the 20 overs. Shubman Gill emerged as the highest run-getter for his side with 36 off 37 deliveries while captain Eoin Morgan and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik smashed 34 off 23 and 29 off 14 to pace up the innings in the end.
As far as the bowling is concerned, T Natarajan took two important wickets of Rahul Tripathi and Andre Russell while Basil Thampi, Vijay Shankar and Rashid Khan have one each to their name. Now, the Orange Army has to chase 164 runs in 20 overs to take a step forward in the competition.
Paschim Pathak stuns the viewers with his hairstyle
Apart from the good batting performance by KKR and decent bowling performance by SRH in the first innings, the thing that caught the attention of the viewers was the hairstyle sported by the on-field umpire Paschim Pathak. Pathak became the center of attraction on many social networking sites owing to his ‘Rockstar’ hairstyle.
The 43-year-old, who made his IPL debut in 2014, and officiated in eight Indian Premier League fixtures along with two Women’s ODI Matches in 2012. Pathak has always managed to be in the limelight with his unique antics. In 2015, he had registered his name as the first Indian umpire to wear a helmet while umpiring in a match. The rare sight of an umpire wearing a helmet in India was recorded in one of the matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015 conducted in Karnataka.
As soon as Pathak stepped on the field for the game between Knight Riders and Hyderabad, the netizens noticed the unique hairstyle and he soon started trending on the social networking sites. Twitter is flooded with the memes involving Paschim Pathak for his extraordinary hairstyle.
