India-South Africa ODIs were also called off in the wake of Coronavirus
The novel coronavirus outbreak had also resulted in the ODI series between India and South Africa getting cancelled. After the first ODI of the series was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain, the remaining two matches were called off in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. After the postponement of the series, Shastri has termed it as a ‘welcome rest’ for the players who are quite busy throughout the year.
“(This rest) cannot be a bad thing because, towards the end of the New Zealand tour, you could see some cracks coming up when it came to mental fatigue, physical fitness and injuries,” Shastri had said. “It has been tough but a welcome rest for players,” the coach had said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
