The Indian government’s decision to abolish Article 370, which gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir hasn’t gone down well with Shahid Afridi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah made the revelations in the Rajya Sabha. Angered by the move, the former Pakistan cricketer asked the United Nations to stop the unprovoked aggression and crimes, taking place in Kashmir.
Then Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian cricketer, mocked him severely, saying that the bloodshed and terror is taking place in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Threats of nuclear wars have also floated in from the other side of the border. Former cricketer Imran Khan, also the Honourable Pakistan Prime Minister, isn’t impressed by Narendra Modi and the Indian government.
Shahid Afridi in support of Imran Khan
Recently, Khan stated that there will be a 30-minute event that will take place every week in his county to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Afridi didn’t take much time to show support for the cause. The retired all-rounder from Khyber Agency mentioned that he will visit the Mazar-e-Quaid (the tomb of Pakistan founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah) in Karachi on Friday, August 30.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “Let’s respond to PM call for Kashmir Hour as a nation. I will be at Mazar e Quaid at 12 pm on Friday. Join me to express solidarity with our Kashmiri brethren. On 6 Sep I will visit home of a Shaheed. I will soon be visiting LOC.” Afridi has always been vocal on social media and never backs out from sharing opinions, oblivious of the talks around him.
Yet again, Gambhir ridiculed him and remarked that Afridi hasn’t matured yet. Moreover, he jokingly said that he would be buying kindergarten tutorials for Afridi, who has expressed concerns over the issue for quite some time now. In the meantime, a journalist from his own nation trolled him. The journo, named Naila Inayat, brought Afridi’s batting into the picture.
She took to “How I wish you had responded to these calls of standing for half an hour when you’d came out to bat and leave in a jiffy.”
