Batting and wicketkeeping in international cricket might be an easy task for Mohammad Rizwan but pronouncing the names of some South African cricketers is definitely not. After starring with the bat in the second Test against the Proteas, the Pakistan star was involved in a bizarre incident when he was interacting with the media.
Rizwan hilariously failed to pronounce the names of South Africa bowlers Anrich Nortje and George Linde. And even though Rizwan knew that he was making a mistake, he made sure to leave others in splits with the way he talked. The 28-year old was talking about the bowlers who picked up five wickets in an innings in Rawalpindi Test.
Mohammad Rizwan was stating that the pitch was helpful to both spinners and pacers. Fast-bowler Hasan Ali picked up five-wicket hauls in both innings while Nortje and spinner Linde picked up fifers in the first and second innings respectively. And while the Pakistan wicket-keeper was right with his assessment, he definitely made a hilarious gaffe while saying the names of the bowlers. He called Nortje ‘Nokia’ (which is right but he wasn’t sure) and Linde ‘Lundi’.
“Hasan bhai ne paanch out kiye, unka wo nodjiye hai ya nokia hain, jo bhi hain usne bhi paanch out kiye (Hasan bhai got five wickets, and their bowler nodjiye or nokia also picked up five wickets),” Rizwan said before calling mispronouncing Linde. Rizwan definitely saw the funny side of his mistake as he had a smile on his face during the incident.

Pakistan beat South Africa to sweep series
Talking about the game, Pakistan beat South Africa by 95 runs to sweep the two-match series. Mohammad Rizwan played a key role in the win by scoring an unbeaten 115 in the second innings. His knock helped Pakistan recover from 76 for 5 and post 298 to set South Africa a target of 370. South Africa were in a good position at the start of day five as their score was 127 for 1.
However, they suffered a collapse after the 107-run stand between Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma to concede the match. The visitors lost their last seven wickets for just 33 runs to be bundled out for 274. Both the teams will now play a three-match T20I series starting from February 11.
