Pat Cummins, the Australian fast bowler, named David Warner as the Aussie teammate with whom he doesn’t wish to stay in quarantine. The lockdown across the world due to the COVID-19 virus has been hogging the headlines for quite a few days. Cummins was also set to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2020 IPL, but that has now been put to a halt.
As far as staying in quarantine is concerned, Cummins also revealed the reasons behind avoiding Warner. The speedster said that the top-order batsman is a spring chicken and is a tireless character.
“I think it would probably be Davey Warner. He’s high energy, relentless. I don’t think he sleeps! He’s just a ball of energy, non-stop,” Cummins was quoted as saying in Fox Sports.
Pat Cummins picks Hazlewood
Rather, Cummins picked up his fast bowling partner Jos Hazlewood as his quarantine partner. Pat called him a happy-go-lucky individual. “Josh Hazlewood is a pretty cool character. Very low maintenance. Give him a beer. Give him a nice simple feed and he’s happy. So maybe Josh Hazlewood,” he added.
Hazlewood also managed to get an IPL contract after being picked by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at his base price of INR 2 crores. Cummins, on the other hand, was the most expensive buy, fetching a stunning 15.50 crores from the Knights. Warner, meanwhile, has been among the leading run-scorers in the IPL and has also won the Orange Cap quite a few times.
For the time being, there’s no action taking place due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the critical situation, people have been constantly asked to stay indoors, stay sanitized and avoid social gatherings. The novel virus has affected more than 12,73,000 people globally.
Though over 2,60,000 persons have recovered, the virus has accounted for the lives of over 69,000. The numbers are expected to get worse even in the coming days. In Australia, there have been 5,787 confirmed cases with 39 people losing their lives.
Apart from Cummins, Warner and Hazlewood, a number of other Aussie cricketers like Steve Smith were also set to be a part of IPL 2020. Australia’s home T20I series against New Zealand was also called off after the opening game in Sydney was played behind closed doors.
