The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has set up the new panel for its High Performance Center in Lahore. Former skipper Mohammad Yousuf and all-rounder Abdul Razzaq have been offered the position of coaches by the board. Apart from these two, former Test cricketer Basit Ali has also been proposed with the position of coach to boost the productivity and performance of HPC.
As per reports, Yousuf later confirmed that he has been offered the responsibility of coach, and he is happy to take up the charge. HPC, which saw changes in its management over the course of one month, is also working on several other aspects to get the best output. Umpires, match referees, scores and coaches of provincial teams in domestic cricket are set to be reassessed.
PCB looking to include stalwarts for the HP Centre
Former Test spinner Nadeem Khan is asked to shoulder the responsibility of director of HPC. The radical change came after the old faces including Mudassar Nazar, Haroon Rasheed, Agha Zahid, and Alia Zia were either fired or released from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
“The PCB has hired the services of former England Cricket’s Performance Director David Parsons, who was also a spin bowling coach since 2006 at the ECB academy at Loughborough in the UK,” the source said as quoted by India Today.
An extensive working document for the new changes has been prepared for HPC and director Nadeem Khan has been working closely with the board. “The idea is to get more former stalwarts involved in coaching positions not only at the High Performance Center but also with the provincial and Under-19 teams so that players can have access to the best coaching and training facilities,” the source added.
Pakistan have been quite active is bringing changes in their management team post 2019 World Cup. Having captained the national team in all the the formats, Younis Khan was recently appointed as the batting coach for the Men in Green. He is the only Test player to have credit of smashing century in all 11 nations that have hosted Test matches. The 42-year-old has scored 10,099 runs in 118 Tests including all time best of 313 that brought him the laurel of becoming no.1 batsman in ICC rankings.
