Anushka Sharma may have a distinct identity of her own but she is never far off from making headlines in connection to cricket, the sport her husband Virat Kohli plays. Be it in good times or bad, the Bollywood actress somehow finds herself placed in the limelight. There have also been controversies at times over her visibility along with the national side but she has never shied away from cheering her husband, one of India’s most successful captains.
On Wednesday, after Kohli shared some visuals from the memorable match at Seddon Park in Hamilton, Anushka cheered Team India and described the win as “Phenomenal!” The third match of the series went down to the wire after the regulation 40 overs saw a tie. In the super over, Rohit Sharma struck two consecutive sixes in the last two balls to ensure that India overhauled the target of 18 set by the Kiwis in their super over. Rohit, who also made 65 in just 40 balls earlier, was adjudged the man of the match.
Kohli later shared a picture of the team standing in attention to sing the National Anthem before the game started. His other pictures included himself cheering the teammates after the thrilling win; Rohit hugging his opening partner KL Rahul after the winning strike and one of himself at the crease. He captioned it: “That’s how we do it! #NZvIND.” Anushka reacted to that post.

Anushka Sharma has not accompanied her husband in NZ
Anushka has not accompanied Kohli to the ongoing tour of New Zealand. She was present in Australia in 2019 when India defeated the Kangaroos in a Test series in their den for the first time. She was also present in the stands during India’s unsuccessful mission in the ICC World Cup in England last year and later, one former cricketer even accused the selectors of serving tea to the ‘first lady’ of Indian cricket. The controversy snowballed with even Anushka breaking the silence on it.
The duo got married in Italy in December 2017. Anushka was last seen in a film in 2018 when she appeared opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Zero’ and is currently working in a number of production ventures.
