The right-arm quick hailing from Bengaluru, Prasidh Krishna has hogged all the limelight in recent times owing to his stunning outing for the Men in Blue in the ongoing three-match One Day International series against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
The 25-year-old quick has been impressive with his pace and seam throughout the ODI series against England and has been receiving applause from all over the cricket fraternity. Apart from rattling the opposition batsmen with his pace, Prasidh is also a fan of bicycle racing since his childhood
In an interview for his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, Krishna revealed that he became a fan of speed after religiously following the MotoGP racer Valentino Rossi. The seamer reckoned that he loved cycling as a child and was a big admirer of Valentino. Rossi, who currently rides for the Petronas Yamaha SRT team, is one of the greatest motorcycle racers of all time.
“I used to cycle a lot because our road was a dead end. So, I used to come down the lane. I used to watch a lot of Valentino Rossi back then, so I had followed him a lot. Maybe that’s where the speed factor came in because I was, you know, seeing him go so fast. It’s so much of speed. So that’s where my liking for speed came into existence,” said Krishna while speaking to the KKR website.
Prasidh Krishna’s impressive run against England
Prasidh Krishna had made his debut for Men in Blue during the first One Day International against England in Pune and scripted history by becoming the first India bowler to pick four or more wickets on ODI debut. The 25-year-old had finished with the figures of 8.1-1-54-4 and named opposition opening batsman Jason Roy as his maiden international wicket.
The second game saw Krishna picking two prized wickets of Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler but that came in a losing cause as India lost the second ODI in Pune by 6 wickets to level the series by 1-1. Though India had lost the match, Krishna was impressive with the ball as in his 10 overs he conceded just 58 runs.
