The former Indian cricketer Praveen Kumar’s father-in-law Anil Kumar, aged 55, passed away on Sunday. On Sunday morning, Anil slipped from the third floor of his home and fell down and unfortunately lost his life. Anil Kumar was a retired Army officer and stayed in TP Nagar, Sheikhpura with his family.
According to his family, Anil had gone to the third floor to get some pudina leaves. But there was a lot of water on the floor due to the incessant rains which he didn’t notice and slipped to fall down from the third floor. The people passing by witnessed the incident and quickly informed the family of the same who then admitted Anil to KMC Hospital.
According to the reports in Live Hindustan, the doctors confirmed that Anil Kumar’s both legs were fractured after the incident. He was also seriously injured with his head, shoulder and face badly damaged. Anil Kumar stopped breathing during the treatment and Praveen Kumar’s family suffered a huge loss. After getting the news of the accident, even Praveen reached the hospital and then informed the reporters of his father-in-law’s demise.
Kumar retired from all forms last year
Once an integral part of the Indian team, Praveen Kumar retired from all forms of the game last year. He played 6 Tests, 68 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals for India during his injury-ridden career at the highest level. He picked a total of 112 wickets in his career and unfortunately fell out of selectors’ radar following constant injuries. The 32-year-old played his last game for India back in 2012.
Having said that, the medium-pacer kept on playing for Uttar Pradesh, his state team, in the domestic arena until January 2018 after which he decided to call it quits. Praveen Kumar then went on to feature in the T20 league where he plied his trade for Punjabi Legends in three matches and picked six wickets.
