One spot for the semi-finals in the Qatar T10 League is still up for grabs. The Swift Gallopers and the Flying Oryx will be locking horns in the first of Sunday’s doubleheader at the West End International Cricket Stadium in Doha. The Gallopers, led by Kamran Akmal, have already made it through to the semis. They started with a defeat, but came back with three thumping victories on the trot.
For the Oryx, a win will seal them a berth in the next round. In that scenario, the Heat Stormers and Pearl Gladiators will officially be knocked out of the tournament. The two teams will be hoping for Hussain Talat’s Oryx to go down. Both the Heat and Stormers are yet to open their account, having lost three matches. But with an NRR of -5.719, the Gladiators are languishing at the bottom.
Pitch and Conditions
The track in Doha has been an absolute belter for batting. And it’s mostly be seen that sides have preferred to bat second. The bowlers may again be taken to the cleaners. The weather will be on the trickier side with chances of rain throughout the day. The heavens are most likely to open up around 7 and 9 pm local time. Hence, full 40 overs on the day seems unlikely for the time being.
Match 14, Flying Oryx vs Swift Gallopers
The Oryx’s batting hasn’t been all that great. Skipper Hussain Talat has 77 runs at a strike-rate of 167.39. But barring him, there hasn’t been much contribution from the others. Talat is also their only half-century maker in the tournament. Their bowling has been pretty economical. However, the bowlers haven’t made enough breakthroughs. Naved Malik has four wickets to his name.
Sami Aslam, Assad Borham, Hussain Talat (C), Shahid Yousuf, Saad Nasim, Chaturanga de Silva, Harmandeep Singh, Bilawal Iqbal, Nouman Sarwar, Asif Raja (wk), Daniyal Bukhari
The Gallopers’ batting has done its job pretty efficiently. Zaheer Ibrahim is their leading run-scorer with 104 runs at a strike-rate of 196.22. Ali Imran and the experienced Kamran Akmal have chipped in with 75 and 85 runs respectively. Even Ravinderpal Singh of Canada has shown his power hitting prowess. In the bowling department, Imran and Mughees Bajwa have been decent.
Kamran Akmal (C & WK), Zaheer Ibrahim, Ali Imran, Ravinderpal Singh, Mohammad Inran, Sadiq NM, Sufyaan Mehmood, Zainudheen, Jahanzeb Arshad, Mughees Bajwa, Umar Gul

Match 15, Heat Stormers vs Pearl Gladiators
Sikandar Raza’s 87 propelled the Stormers last time, but couldn’t save them from yet another defeat in the T10 League. The Stormers will need their premier batter to fire in the crucial encounter. Veteran Manpreet Gony can be promoted in a jittery batting lineup since he has a strike-rate of 271.42. Their bowling has leaked runs with all of them going above 10 runs per over.
Sikandar Raza, Satvir Singh, Scott Edwards (wk), Dharmang Patel, Andri Berenger, Talal Ahmed, Imran Rafi, Manpreet Gony, Owais Ahmed, Raja Amir, Gayan Munaweera
The Gladiators have been shambolic to say the least. Only Adnan Ilyas and Ajantha Mendis have strike-rates in excess of 200, but there’s not much to talk about in the runs column. The likes of Sohaib Maqsood and Karim Sadiq are yet to fire on all cylinders. In bowling, Mendis and Mohammed Nadeem have a couple of wickets each. The rest of the bowlers have been very poor.
Mukhtar Ahmed, Mehran Khan, Sohaib Maqsood, Karim Sadiq, Saqlain Arshad, Malinda Pushpakumara, Faisal Javed (wk), Adnan Ilyas, Mohammad Sami (C), Phillip Joseph, Mohammed Nadeem
