The ongoing proliferation of the World Health Organization-declared pandemic that is the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has taken the world by storm. More and more cases and casualties are being reported every day, and with the fear of it spreading even more, the entire world has been put under lockdown.
From schools, colleges, offices, gyms, malls, libraries, public transport to sporting events, everything has been put on a backburner as the world grapples with the virus, that originated from the Chinese city of Wuhan last year. With India registering an increase in cases every day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ordered a nation-wide lockdown for a period of 21 days, starting midnight on March 24th.
Since then, public figures from all walks of life are taking to social media to urge people to stay indoors. Ace Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin used the image of him running out Jos Buttler at the non-striker’s end in the last edition of the Indian Premier League to help spread awareness among his fans to stay within the confines of their home.
“How to keep a distance from memories during a #21daylockdown?” the franchise wrote on twitter. Ashwin was quick to reply and hinted that he has moved on from that. Here is the conversation between them, ” Ashwin had tweeted.
Not the ones to back down, Rajasthan Royals social media team posted a cheeky reply on Ashwin’s tweet when they said: “How to keep a distance from memories during a #21daylockdown? 🙈

For the uninitiated, a huge controversy had erupted during a Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals fixture in the last edition of the Indian Premier League after KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin had run out Jos Buttler on the non-strikers end after he was backing too far from the crease.
Social media and former as well as current cricketers went ablaze on social media, lambasting Ashwin’s actions, despite the dismissal being perfectly within the laws of the game.
Meanwhile, the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has landed in a near-impossible territory post the 21-day lockdown with KXIP co-owner Ness Wadia urging the BCCI to call-off the tournament for a year.
