Left-arm seamer Ravi Yadav created history on Monday when he took a hat-trick in the very first over that he bowled on debut in domestic cricket. The 40-year-old cricketer represented Madhya Pradesh against Uttar Pradesh in an Elite Cross Pool match of Ranji Trophy 2019-20 at Holkar Stadium in Indore and produced a dream show in the very first over he ran in to bowl. Yadav have his team much to look forward to after he knocked away three wickets of the visiting team on Day 1. MP are yet to win a game in this Ranji season.
Yadav was given the ball by his captain Naman Ojha, a former India player, after MP were bowled out for a modest 230 in their first innings after UP captain Ankit Rajpoot won the toss and chose to field. The MP batsmen were never in control and struggled to reach 230 after losing half their side for just 82.
Yash Dubey scored the most runs for MP — 70 while opener Ajay Rohera, also the team’s wicket-keeper, made 42. Rajpoot and Saurabh Kumar took three wickets each. Yadav, who also bats left hand, was not out on seven runs.
Ravi Yadav came in to bowl one change and delivered
UP got to play three overs towards the end of the day and it was enough for Ravi Yadav to rattle them. He came one change after Ishwar Pandey and Gourav Yadav opened the attack but failed to give any breakthrough. It was the seventh over of the UP innings and Yadav struck off the third, fourth and fifth delivery of his over.
His first wicket was that of opener Aryan Juyal (13) who nicked one to the wicket-keeper and he backed it up by castling Rajpoot and Sameer Rizvi in the next two deliveries. The visitors were suddenly rattled as from 15 for no loss, they were reduced to 15 for 3. The other opener, Almas Shaukat (2) and Akash Deep Nath (6) were at the crease and will be battling a confident Yadav on Tuesday. UP ended the day at 22 for 3, trailing by another 208 runs.
UP are placed better in the points table with one win and five draws in six outings accumulating 14 points. With one loss and four draws, MP are languishing at the 17th place with eight points from five outings.
