The controversies related to age-fudging have always been a part of the cricketing history. Age fraud cases are quite evident in the modern era too. Many players have been found guilty of evading their age in order to get into the team. In recent times, Pakistan has been plagued with many age fraud cases in its cricketing circuit.
Former Pakistan captain and wicket-keeper Rashid Latif, who has been critical of the prevalent corruption in PCB, has lashed out at the board yet again. Latif slammed the board’s inefficiency to restrict increasing age-fudging controversies. He also urged the PCB to not make a joke of itself in front of the world.
In the recently-concluded Test series between Australia and Pakistan, 16-year-old Naseem Shah was under the scanner for the skepticism involved around his real age. Shah made his Test debut in a series which was rather a forgetful experience for Pakistan. The visitors were thrashed 2-0 in the series losing both the Tests by an innings. Shah became the youngest ever cricketer to make his Test debut on Australian soil last month
Many reports had claimed the youngster’s real age is not what has been shown on paper. The teenage sensation played just one game in the series and has now been selected in the Pakistan U-19 team for the Youth World Cup last week.
Don’t destroy your reputation: Rashid Latif to PCB
Latif took to Twitter to bash PCB and said the board should take immediate action against cases of age-fudging. “Pakistani Cricket Team’s players are going to U-19s. U-19s are going to U-16s, U-16s to U-13s & U-13s back to their mothers’ laps. For God’s sake PCB, correct the ages & don’t destroy (your reputation) by working with crooked diploma doctors, don’t make a joke of yourself,” the former Pakistan captain tweeted.

Even after sacking Sarfaraz Ahmed ahead of the Australia series, Pakistan failed to leave their mark on the away soil under the leadership of Azhar Ali. After losing the three-match T20I series 2-0, Pakistan lost the first Test by an innings and 5 runs before losing the second game by an innings and 48 runs.
