The COVID-19 pandemic has affected more than a million with over 53 thousand people losing their lives. The situation has been becoming grave and it hasn’t shown signs of improvement. Amidst all the chaos and commotion, Narendra Modi, the Honourable Prime Minister of India, has been trying his heart out. The veteran has attempted to keep the citizens of the country in unity.
On March 24, he announced a 21-day lockdown in India, asking people to stay indoors and follow the directives. A couple of days prior to that, there was a Janata Curfew where people across the nation thanked the efforts of the doctors. In India, the COVID-19 virus has affected over 2,300 with 56 persons losing their lives. On April 3, the PM again addressed the country in the morning.
PM Narendra Modi again comes forward
This time around, he asked the citizens to fight the coronavirus outbreak in a unique way. He said that on April 5 at 9 PM, people should be switching off their lights and homes for nine minutes. Then they should be lighting candles, lamps, torches or even use mobile flashlights to challenge the darkness. It was the third time Modi has addressed the 130 crore countrymen.
The PM’s call has gotten support from across the country. The cricketing fraternity has also come forward and backed Modi for his support. Among the cricketers are Harbhajan Singh and Ravi Shastri, who both reckons that the energy to combat the novel virus shouldn’t die down.
Shastri took to Twitter and wrote, “To reignite the united strength of 130 Crore people, let us light a lamp | a candle | torch | mobile flashlight at 9 pm for 9 minutes on Sunday – 5th April. Let’s build up a new energy to fight this #COVID crisis #IndiaFightsCorona #SocialDistancing – @narendramodi @ianuragthakur.”
