The much-awaited IPL 2020 is all set to start from September 19th in UAE and teams have already started assembling and leaving for the gulf country. Several franchises have even shared photos of their players boarding the flight and departing to UAE.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, on Friday, also shared a picture featuring their players who boarded a flight for IPL 2020. However, the playersâ faces were covered in masks and face shields, making it difficult to spot skipper Virat Kohli. A few recognizable faces in the photo were Yuzvendra Chahal, Parthiv Patel, Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini.
Later in the day, skipper Kohli, through his official Instagram and Twitter, shared the news of his arrival in Dubai. The 31-year-old uploaded his picture and shared it with the caption, âHello Dubaiâ
Virat Kohli is currently the top-scorer of IPL
The entire IPL 2020 will be played in a bio-secure environment, with the utmost safety measures amid COVID-19 pandemic. Royal Challengers Bangalore, since the tournamentâs inception, have failed to clinch the title even once. With a new venue in the picture, Kohli and his troops will be aiming to lift their maiden IPL trophy this year.
Talking about Kohli, his last appearance for India was during the New Zealand tour. After clinching the T20I series, India had to suffer defeats in the subsequent ODI and Test series. Kohli was also slated to lead India in the ODI series against South Africa but it was eventually called off in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak.
Amid the pandemic, Kohli and many other India stars were confined to their homes since March. The Indian skipper was pretty active on social media in recent weeks, sharing several photos and videos with his better half Anushka Sharma. Kohli had even shared many clips of his workout videos. Due to his exemplary fitness levels, Kohli is regarded as one of the fittest cricketers at the biggest stage.
Kohli, an integral part of RCB, will be hoping to deliver yet again with his willow. In 177 IPL matches, Kohli has mustered 5412 runs at an impressive average of 37.84. He also has five tons and 36 half-centuries under his belt. The prolific batsman is currently sitting at the top with most runs since the IPLâs inception.
