Jasprit Bumrah, the premium fast bowler of India, has been recovering from his stress fracture at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. And there is a piece of good news coming for his fans that he can mark his comeback in the Indian side sooner than it is expected.
Team India is gearing up for the upcoming T20I against Bangladesh in the national capital. But, their main challenge will be the tour of New Zealand that will get kicked-off from 24th January 2020 where they will need the services of Bumrah.
Jasprit Bumrah’s recovery from injury is on track
As per Hindustan Times, 25-year-old went through an assessment post-Diwali and is hopeful that he will be back in action at the start of the new year. He also added that Bumrah will be an important player for the Indian team on their tour to New Zealand and the team management is happy with the way his body is recovering from the injury.
“He underwent assessment and his recovery is on track. Can expect him to be back in Indian colours in January and the Australia series could be the one. When you are playing in New Zealand, the bowling becomes all the more important. As you have seen in the past as well, it is more about taking 20 wickets there than scoring big hundreds. So, the team management was very clear that they are happy to wait and have him back at his best in time for the New Zealand tour,” the source said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Earlier, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli also said that players workload should be managed properly in order to make them free from injury and it is the main reason behind Bumrah’s absence from white-ball cricket post-World Cup.
“That’s probably the most important thing for us right now, managing the workload of players. That’s why he (Bumrah) didn’t play any white-ball cricket after the World Cup because we wanted him to be fresh for the Tests.,” Kohli had said ahead of West Indies series.
Virat Kohli and Co. will host Sri Lanka and Australia before heading for a tour to New Zealand in order to play two Tests, three-ODIs and five T20Is.
