In Indian cricket, things are getting bad to worse for young cricketer Rishabh Pant. The team is heading towards their home season campaign in Test cricket against South Africa and there are still some doubts over who will take the place of a wicketkeeper in the playing XI.
Today, early in the morning Virat Kohli has come out on a decision of making Wriddhiman Saha play against South Africa in the first Test. Pant has been falling short of runs in the limited-overs format and has consistently performed bad. The former cricketers were in split over their opinion of who will play in the Test series opener, Wridhiman Saha or Rishabh Pant with ICC Test Championship being underway.
India can’t take any risk in the longest format of the game that can cost them lose some points in the league table and the decision has been taken by the Indian skipper and Kohli also said during his conference that Saha has done quite well in this format for India post his injury which means Rishabh Pant has been dropped from the playing XI in the first Test match. But there is another former Australian spinner who had some strong opinion over Rishabh Pant.
Former Australian spinner chooses Saha over Pant
Brad Hogg, a couple of days ago posted a Tweet on social media, according to which Wriddhiman Saha should be given a chance over Rishabh Pant, although he praised the explosive ability of the Delhiite but he thinks that the youngster should be sidelined and wrote, “Saha has to play the 1st test. Yes Pant is explosive with the bat, yes you want him to play his natural game but not at the cost of consistency. He’s young, back to 1st class ranks, working on his erratic decision making. He’ll be back.”

Today, after Virat Kohli announced his decision between Saha and Pant, then the former Australian spinner came out with a new Tweet replying to a question of his fan and in which Hogg wrote that a young talent with huge potential should be shown a tougher route, so that they can become great, “Agreed, but his rashness in the shorter formats is becoming too consistent. He was becoming too comfortable with mediocrity. Sometimes to make a young talent with huge potential great, one has to show a tougher route.”
