India opener and the limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma turned 33 on April 30. Wishes flooded for the cricketer on social media even as the country mourned the passing away of two of the most talented actors in the industry, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor. Rohit himself cleared that it wasn’t the greatest of birthdays for him as he thanked his fans and followers for their wishes.
No wonder the former and current Indian cricketers tried to cheer up the birthday boy with their wishes for his well being. Among the others, even Gautam Gambhir was one who wished Rohit Sharma on Twitter and the former gave him one of the best compliments while wishing.
Gambhir termed him the best limited-overs cricketer in the world currently and also hoped that he has a great year ahead. “Happy Birthday to the best white ball cricketer in the world @ImRo45! Have a great year ahead,” the tweet read. Well, Rohit is one of, if not, the best cricketer in the ODIs and T20Is currently. He also has the best average among all the openers in ODI cricket since 2013 when he was pushed up the order in the format.

Rohit Sharma lauds Gambhir’s work
On May 1, the following day, Rohit Sharma was thanking his friends, teammates and former teammates personally on Twitter for their wishes. He came across Gambhir’s ‘best white-ball cricketer’ tweet and while responding to it, decided not to speak about it much.
However, the 33-year-old lauded the former India opener for his impeccable work off the field ever since he has retired from the game. “Don’t know about that Gauti bhai. But loving your work,” Rohit tweeted in response. Gautam Gambhir who is also a Delhi MP has been at the forefront in India’s fight against the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
While he has released around Rs 1 crore from his MPLAD funds to help the Delhi Government buy equipments for the treatement of COVID-19 patients, the 38-year-old has also given away his two years’ salary to PM CARES Relief Fund. Recently, he also performed the last rites of his domestic help whom he used to consider as part of the family.
