S Sreesanth, the controversial Indian fast bowler, has almost resigned to the fact that he won’t be able to don the national jersey ever again. He last played for India in a Test match against England at The Oval back in August 2011. But then the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal turned his career upside down. From being a promising aspect, he faded away into oblivion.

He got tangled into all sorts of controversies and his cricket career went for a toss. Despite not playing any competitive cricket in the last seven years, the pacer isn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet. Rather he wishes to follow on his father’s footsteps of fighting hard until the last breath.

“Realistically no, but as my father told me which I will always follow ‘never give up as long as you’re breathing’. I never believed in being realistic, from a small state called Kerala (not much history of great cricketers who represented India),” Sreesanth was quoted as saying in an interview with Cricket World.

Sreesanth reckons that a miracle, which can revive his career, is in the offing. “I always believed I will play for India and win a World Cup and it happens as the bible says ‘This too shall pass’. Miracles happen every moment, believe,” the fast bowler added.

Sreesanth would mostly be remembered for the catch he took at short fine leg to dismiss Misbah-ul-Haq. It was during the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. India beat Pakistan by five runs to be crowned as the champions of the inaugural world T20 championship.

He also was a part of the India’s victorious campaign in the 50-over 2011 World Cup in India. The seamer played a couple of games, though he couldn’t pick up a wicket. When he came to the fore, experts used to laud him for his immaculate seam position that helped him generate movement.

Sreesanth also put forth some hilarious celebrations over the course of his career. After his cricket career halted, he featured in TV shows like Bigg Boss, hosted by Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The 37-year-old has also worked in a few movies.
