Amid Coronavirus outbreak, cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kevin Pietersen and others recently interacted with fans and their teammates in a live session on social media. Now, S Sreesanth, the 37-year-old former Indian pacer joined the bandwagon. And, he was engaged in a live interacting session with his fans and followers on Helo App. The beleaguered Indian pacer gave some surprising answers to the curious questions.
The 37-year-old is currently going through the ban handed by BCCI for having an involvement in IPL 2014 spot-fixing scandal. Cricket board had imposed a lifetime ban on Sreesanth. However, in 2019, the Supreme court trimmed his sentence to seven years that will be going to be finished in September 2020. So far he has played 53 ODIs, 27 Tests, and ten T20Is. Interestingly, the Kerala-born pacer is still hopeful of making his way into the national side although he had to start his career from the scratch in the late ’30s.
Sreesanth picks the best Indian captain
In the recent live interaction on Helo App, one fan asked Sreesanth to pick his all-time favourite Indian skipper. The 37-year-old took a short pause and said that in his opinion, Kapil Dev, the former World Cup winner is his favourite Indian captain. It is known that Kapil Dev led India to its maiden World Cup title back in 1983.
Sreesanth also shared his experience from the 2011 World Cup. The 37-year-old recited that he was feeling quite nervous during the mega-event. As per him, it was Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, who motivated him to bowl. Everyone in the side wanted to win the ODI World Cup at Wankhede Stadium in front of the home crowd as well as for Master Blaster, who was playing his last ICC tournament.
“In 2011, I was a bit nervous, but Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh motivated me to bowl. And since it was the World Cup and we were playing at home, everyone in the side wanted to win that final at Wankhede Stadium at any cost for Sachin Paaji! And winning the final in front of an electric crowd was a great experience. It was also my last ODI match in India colours.” Sreesanth said in the live session.
