Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are currently the top two batsmen in the cricket world. And, the duo shares some strong rivalry when it comes to their game. There have been several debates going in the cricketing fraternity on- who is the best in the world explicitly in Tests. However, Sandeep Lamichhane the young spinner from Nepal has picked his two favourites in the longer format.
There have been many players like Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Rohit Sharma, Marnus Labuschagne, Kane Williamson, Cheteshwar Pujara and many more, who are some of the best in the business when anyone talks about the Test cricket. However, in the last year, the tussle to be the best in Test cricket has taken a competitive turn with all the players raising the bars with their brilliant performances. But two players, who are leading the battle are Virat Kohli and Steve Smith.
Sandeep Lamichhane gives an answer to a fan’s question
Earlier, this year Smith did a commendable job with the bat in Ashes against England and ended up being the top-scorer in the prestigious series. He amassed 774 runs at an average of more than 110 with three tons and three half-centuries. Moreover, he dethroned Virat Kohli in the Test ranking and clinched the number one position in ICC Test rankings. He was poured with wishes from every nook and corner from across the globe for his remarkable performances against the three lions.
Kohli also came back stronger by upgrading his game and delivering brilliant performances with his wooden sword in the Test series played against South Africa and Bangladesh. Moreover, he successfully managed to get back his number position in the latest ICC Test ranking. He is now 17 points ahead of Steve Smith and will end up 2019 as the number one batsman in the longer format.
The duo has certainly increased the benchmark for the other players in their battle to be the best in the world. However, a fan took to his Twitter handle and asked Sandeep Lamichhane on who is the best Test batsman. His tweet read, “Who is the best Test batsman right now?”.
In reply to it, the young spinner said that it is a tough question to answer but his preferred players would be Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. His tweet read, “Tough question to answer. I would say @imVkohl and @stevesmith49,”
