Former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur reveals that he enjoyed his tenure working in the company of ex-Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed while coaching the Pakistan cricket team. Arthur served as Pakistan’s coach during 2016-19 and stated that Sarfaraz was a popular leader inside their dressing room. While speaking in a recent interview, Arthur also threw light on the personality traits of Sarfaraz and talked about his association with Pakistan cricket.

Arthur stated that he felt while working with a great leader and gentlemen Graeme Smith and Michael Clarke. Also, Sarfaraz possessed great qualities, like he was quite a disciplinarian on the field but remained cheerful with his boys inside the dressing room. He treated cricketers inside the dressing room like brothers, the former coach added.

“I was very privileged to work with Michael Clarke and Graeme Smith. They were a very good leader of men. Sarfaraz had something I hadn’t seen before. He had the ability to be an authoritative voice, like a disciplinarian on the field, but when he came into the dressing room, he transformed into a brother to the guys. He had that,” said Arthur while speaking in an interview with Aamir Sohail on his YouTube channel.

Arthur told, that people often after him about Sarfaraz’s behaviour on the field, his movements, and other things. However, they didn’t know his other side, where he was a great leader inside the dressing room. Even the coach enjoyed working with him.

“People say what happened on the field, like his movements, but they didn’t see the other side of Sarfaraz in the dressing room. He was a very popular leader inside the changing room, and I loved working with him,” he added.

Sarfaraz Ahmed led the national cricket team of Pakistan in 13 Tests where they lost eight, won four, and one resulted in a draw. He even struggled with his batting form as he averaged just 25.81. His stats are better in ODI cricket, where the team won 28 out of the 50 matches he led in. He also led his team in 37 T20Is, where they had an impressive record by winning 29 out of them.
