Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian left-handed batsman turned 35 years old on Saturday, December 5. The veteran is currently in Australia, taking part in the three-match T20I series. He isn’t a part of the Test squad though, having last played in the format during India’s tour of England in 2018. Dhawan has been a part of the national team for the last decade after making his debut back in 2010.
In the meantime, Virender Sehwag, the former Indian batsman, wished Dhawan on the auspicious occasion. The Nawab of Najafgarh, who played alongside Dhawan for the Delhi domestic team, isn’t short of humour. Even this time around, he didn’t disappoint.
He asked Dhawan to score runs at the hometown of his wife, Ayesha Dhawan, who stays in Melbourne. He captioned the picture of Dhawan’s doppelganger and wrote, “Many Many happy returns of the day to a ever smiling guy I admire a lot, @SDhawan25. Sasural mein khoob khoob run banao baaki matches mein bhi aur har khushi manaao. May you get to have many more celebrations, itni ki jaanghein laal ho jaayein.”
Here is Sehwag’s post-

Shikhar Dhawan doing well
Dhawan came into the tour of Australia after a stupendous campaign in the Indian Premier League. He ended as the second-highest run-scorer and also took his team, Delhi Capitals, to the final. During the tournament, he also became the first batsman to score back-to-back tons in the IPL. Though he started the league slowly, he managed to press the accelerator in the second half of the event.
In the ongoing Australia sojourn, the southpaw started with 74 runs, opening the batting. However, India ended up losing the game by 66 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground. In the second and third ODI at the SCG and Manuka Oval, he got scores of 30 and 16 respectively. He would have been a tad disappointed after not being able to score runs in the last two games.
In the first T20I in Canberra, Dhawan floundered as well. He could only manage one run before Mitchell Starc rattled his woodwork. In the second T20I on Sunday, December 6, Dhawan will be keen to make amends and get a useful knock under his belt.
