The hosts Scotland will be in action for the first time in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 on Thursday. They will face Oman who is one of the three sides in the Triangular ODI series. Oman began the tournament with a close win against Papua New Guinea (P.N.G) in the first match of this Tri-Series. The team led by Zeeshan Maqsood chased down 230 with five balls and four wickets to spare.
The chase looked tough where they were six down for 144 in 37.4 overs. However, Sandeep Goud and Fayyaz Butt add 90 runs in only 69 deliveries for the 7th wicket as Oman recorded their maiden victory in the ODI format. On the other hand, a couple of Scotland players featured in the Global T20 Canada until this Sunday. Most of them had good performances which will boost their confidence.
The 2nd game of the 2019 Scotland ODI Tri-Series is played between Scotland and Oman will be hosted by the Mannofield Park in Aberdeen.
The match starts at 11:00 AM local time (10:00 AM GMT) (3:30 PM IST).
Last five completed List A matches:
Scotland: L, L, W, L, W.
Oman: W, L, L, W, W.
The forecast suggested a gloomy afternoon on Wednesday but the weather did not make any efforts to intervene the game. Thursday’s forecast is dry especially from 11 AM local time. In the worst possible scenario, the match could have a delayed start.
The first professional game since 2015 at the Mannofield Park in Aberdeen saw 460 runs scored in 100 overs. The track looked better than how it played as per the people who watched in from close quarters. Anything over 250 can be expected if Scotland bat first on the same track on Thursday.
