The Kabul Eagles have started off the 2019 Shpageeza Cricket League with back to back big wins. It was their batting which set up them a win in the first match against Band-e-Amir Dragons. Their skipper Asghar Afghan scored a 48-ball 92 with eight sixes to help Kabul finish on 209/4 in their 20 overs. The BEAD team fell 36 runs short of the target despite a 78-run stand for 7th wicket.
During the game on Wednesday, the Kabul team could only post 129/9 in their 20 overs but still won by 17 runs as Speen Ghar Tigers were bowled out for just 112. The Kabul team will now face Boost Defenders who started with a close loss. The Boost Defenders needed 28 runs from 25 balls in the match against Mis Ainak Knights only to end up losing by three runs.
No interruption from the weather is expected for this game. The weather forecast suggests a sunny afternoon in Kabul.
The dip in totals during the matches played in the afternoon compared to that of morning ones has been a trend at this venue. Chasing is something the team winning the toss look to skip here. Even 130 could be a winning score in such conditions.
Average first innings score: 150 (Twenty20s played in the afternoon)
Record of chasing teams: Won – 4, Lost – 4, Tied – 1

Hashmatullah Shahidi is trying to make a mark in the T20 format. He will be a safe option as he will anchor the innings and score 25-35 runs every match. Karim Janat has got the best fantasy potential among the lot since he is opening the innings with the bat and gets to bowl his full quota of four overs. Samiullah Shinwari’s role is similar one as he bats at No.4 or No.5 alongside bowling four overs.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Captain – Karim Janat, Samiullah Shinwari, Brendan Taylor, Gulbadin Naib
Vice-Captain – Hazratullah Zazai, Asghar Afghan, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Darwish Rasooli
Brendan Taylor has been quite consistent in the T20 format recently which makes him safe as vice-captain.

After a big win in the first match, Kabul Eagles made only one change for the 2nd match as they brought in Zimbabwe player Tendai Chatara. The Boost Defenders might not make any big changes despite the loss in the previous game. Hence, we can assume the playing XIs of their previous matches as expected XIs for the game on Thursday.
The Kabul Eagles are expected to register their 3rd straight victory.
