In a re-match of the 2019-20 BBL final, the Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars would be up against each other in the second of Saturday’s doubleheader. Both the teams have started with two wins each from their first three games, but it’s the Stars, who are placed higher with 10 points compared to the Sixers’ tally of eight.
The two teams would be locking horns at the Carrara Oval in Queensland. It will also be the first time when the teams would be facing each other outside the MCG and the SCG. On head-to-head count, there’s nothing to separate the two teams with both winning seven matches each.
But going into the next game, the Sixers might get an upper hand as the Stars won’t be having a few key members in their ranks, one of them is Marcus Stoinis as confirmed by their head coach David Hussey.
Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at the Carrara Oval is expected to be an absolute belter with bowlers not having much room for error. Only one T20I has been played at the venue and the team, batting first scored at a run-rate of 10.8, speaking a lot about the nature of the surface.
The temperature around night-time would be around 23 degrees Celsius. The humidity will be in the mid-60s with a fair bit of cloud cover.

Probable Top Performers for SIX vs STA
Josh Philippe– Sydney Sixers
Josh Philippe has been in impressive touch in the ongoing tournament. In three matches, the right-hander has notched 102 runs at an average and strike-rate of 34 and 141.66 respectively. The 95 he notched against the Renegades should have given him a world of confidence. Philippe remains a vital cog in the Sixers’ setup and will be looking for another knock of substance against the Stars
Nicholas Pooran– Melbourne Stars
Nicholas Pooran didn’t get to bat in the last match against Perth Scorchers after the game was called off due to rain. But in the next game, in the absence of a few star players, the onus will be on the left-handed batsman from the West Indies.
In the 2020 IPL, he smashed the bowlers all around the park while playing for Kings XI Punjab. He will be a tough nut to crack if he gets going with the bat.
