To err is human although the tribe called cricketers remains extra cautious about not making mistakes. It is because a little slip from them could go on to cause big controversies that keep on snowballing in the public space for days. Yet, since they are human beings, cricketers do make mistakes and make the headlines. One of them to do so is former India captain Sourav Ganguly although the man is known to be tight in his public life conduct.
Recently, an account by the name of Haryana Tweets came up with a reminder of the 92nd birth anniversary of Bansi Lal Legha, the northern state’s former chief minister who passed away in 2006. A close confidant of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, Legha, who was commonly known as Bansi Lal, had also served as the defense minister and railway minister in the 1970s and 1980s, respectively.
He became the chief minister of Haryana no less than four times – 1968, 1972, 1986 and 1996. The veteran Congress leader was an independence activist and is credited as the architect of modern Haryana. In 1996, he left the Congress to set up his Haryana Vikas Party. In 2004, it merged back with the Congress.
“Respects and homage to former Haryana CM and great administrator CM Bansi Lal on his birth anniversary,” the tweet on the late leader said. Ganguly, who is a cricket administrator now and leads the Cricket Association of Bengal, responded to the tweet by wishing Bansi Lal good health.

Ganguly recently expressed interest in becoming India coach
Ganguly, who led India to a number of notable wins abroad and is credited to be the captain who had first helped the Asian side shed the tag of “paper tigers overseas”, also works as an advisor to the Delhi Capitals franchise in the Indian Premier League. Recently, the man also expressed interest to become the coach of the Indian national side although he said that the right time hasn’t yet come.
Ganguly was India’s second most successful captain in Tests since recently after Mahendra Singh Dhoni but Virat Kohli’s success in red-ball cricket has now pushed him to the third position with 21 wins out of 49 matches.
