Recently in the Zimbabwe versus Afghanistan match, Mohammad Nabi and Najibullah Zadran took the opposition bowlers to the task as they joined into hit seven sixes in seven balls to the cheers of the crowd and helped their team put up a formidable total and subsequently win the match by a comfortable margin. The crowds in Bangladesh have been highly involved in the matches and they even tried to help out the players the other day when Mirpur Stadium faced some electricity issues.
Fans use smartphones to light up Mirpur Stadium after power fails during the match
The T20I match played between Zimbabwe and home side Bangladesh played in the Mirpur Stadium in Dhaka saw something amazing happen. The 17th over of the Zimbabwe innings saw the power to the floodlights go off abruptly, bringing the game to a halt and drowning the whole stadium in darkness. The match had already lost two overs due to rain and the fans took this opportunity to show their creativeness.
The whole of the stadium was jampacked and as the ground appeared dark, almost every fan present took out their smartphones and switched their flashlight on, making the whole arena look like Diwali decorations. It was a spellbinding sight to witness the lights from the smartphones, fans watching it on their TV sets must have found it interesting. The power to the ground was restored in a few minutes, but the whole scene was amazing to watch.

Zimbabwe went on to 144/5 in 18 overs thanks to brilliant innings by Ryan Burl. But it wasn’t enough to win the game. Although, they had a reasonable control in the game. Bangladesh was six wickets down for 60 runs in the 10th over of the chase. Then teenager Afif Hossain turned the game by scoring 52 off 26 balls and with the help of Mosaddek Hossain’s 24-ball 30, helped Bangladesh win the game.
