Indian opener batsman Prithvi Shaw slammed a magnificent double century against Pondicherry in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. He played an unbeaten knock of 227 runs off 152 balls. The Mumbai captain hit 31 fours and 5 sixes in his wonderful innings. Pondicherry had earlier decided to bowl first in the match after winning the toss.
Apart from captain Prithvi Shaw, the middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav too played a blistering knock of 133 runs off only 58 runs. He hit 22 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. The prolific batsman who has received India call-up recently reached the three-figure mark in only 50 balls.
Mumbai team posted a mammoth total of 457 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 50 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Aditya Tare scored 56 runs off 64 balls while batting at No. 3. The Pondicherry team used a total of 8 bowlers, but could not be saved from the carnage of Mumbai batsmen.

1 – The dashing opener also surpassed Sanju Samson in terms of scoring the most runs in an innings during a Vijay Hazare Trophy Match. Sanju had scored 212 runs off 129 balls against Goa in 2019.
3 – Prithvi’s score of 227 is the third-highest by an Indian player in List-A cricket. Only Rohit Sharma (264) and Shikhar Dhawan (248) are ahead in this list.
31 – Prithvi hit 31 fours during his glorious knock and registered the record for hitting second most fours in List-A innings. Rohit Sharma had hit 33 fours in his 264-run knock against Sri Lanka in 2014.
50 – Suryakumar Yadav completed his century in only 50 balls in the match. This is the second-fastest hundred by an Indian player in List-A cricket. Yusuf Pathan is on top of this list, who hit a ton in only 40 balls against Maharashtra in 2010.
457/4 – Mumbai’s total of 457 is the highest ever total on Indian Soil in List-A cricket. Earlier South Africa had posted 438/4 against India in Mumbai ODI, 2015. This is also the highest innings total in Vijay Hazare Trophy.
